Frances “Carol” Smith 1927 – 2017

Frances Carol Smith, 89 of Zanesville, died peacefully 6:50 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Thursday, October 27, 1927, in High Hill, the daughter of John Warne and Mable Glyde (Carrell) Warne. She married Willis A. “Bill” Smith on Friday, October 15, 1948.

Carol graduated from Meigs High School and Meredith Business College. She was employed as a secretary with Shelly & Sands and Brockway Glass. Carol, along with her husband, were co-owners of CBS Heating & Cooling Company.

Carol was a dedicated member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church where she was very involved in the ladies auxiliary and choir. She was also active with the arthritis foundation, loved spending time at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors and greatly enjoyed the time she spent sitting on her front porch.

Carol is survived by one son: Pastor Steve (Vicki) Smith of Zanesville; one daughter: Rita Gail (Lenn) Smith of Akron; four grandchildren: Shelli Barry, Jill (Jay) Bonifant, Christopher (Crystal) Smith & Willis Matthew (Jennifer) Smith; fourteen great grandchildren: Kyle, Joey, Maigen & Brandon Barry; Steven, Alisen & Austen Bonifant; Chance, Caden & Cami Smith; Jordan, Dominic, Alex & Makayla Smith; three great, great grandchildren: Kaylie, Kaden & Elliana and a special friend & caregiver: Ted Szabo of Zanesville.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband: Willis A. “Bill” Smith; three siblings: Thurman Warne, John Warne & Dorothy Warne.
