SNAP and WIC Vouchers available at Farmers Market

 

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties wants to remind residents of the financial support available for getting fresh local produce.

Executive Director, Meg Deedrick, said United Way is offering vouchers at the Zanesville Farmers Market for those on SNAP coupons of food stamps that will be good for up to ten dollars.

“We have pledged a certain amount of money in SNAP Match Assistance so folks that go to the market to use their SNAP benefits and buy some fruits and vegetables for the week can receive, for the tie being, an additional 10 dollar voucher compliments of United Way that they need to use at the market.”

The Dietitian for the local WIC Program, Claire Gately, says WIC will also provide vouchers at the Farmers Market.

“People that qualify for our program will also qualify for our Farmers Market coupons. So what happens is we will provide our participants with twenty dollars worth of coupons to use with the Farmers Market if they go down to the Farmers Market ad pick them up on Saturday morning.”

Both vouchers are in limited quantities and are on a first come first serve basis at the Farmers Market Saturday, July 15th from 9 am to 12 pm at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
