Week of Service to support Troops Overseas

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio County Boards of Developmental Disabilities is celebrating 50 years with the Always There campaign.
According to alwaysthereforohio.org Always There is a year-long campaign celebrating the Ohio County Boards of Developmental Disabilities anniversary. The campaign will celebrate the past, present, and future with stories of individuals, milestones, and achievements.
The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities is just one out of 88 counties who are participating in the Week of Service. The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities – Starlight Programs teamed up with People First Muskingum Chapter to participate in the Week of Service.
Customer Guide Lisa Clark said they decided to give back to the community by sending supplies to the troops overseas.
“It’s not a one time thing but our troops need us at all times,” Clark said. “So we’re looking at being there always and just want them to know we are thinking of them and we’re paying it forward.”
The community can join in by donating items like hard tack candy, tube socks, toiletries, baby wipes, and flavored water packets.
“Just come in and say this is for the Week of Service to support our troops,” Clark said. “We’ll take it, we have individuals sometimes who can’t travel or don’t have transportation. Give us a call, we’ll come by and grab it for you and we’ll just consolidate all these things at the end of the month and make sure that they get shipped overseas.”
Always There Week of Service is taking place July 17, 2017 through July 21, 2017. For more information contact the Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities, (740) 453-4829.
