Library prepares students for Kindergarten

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System is helping educators fight the summer-slide before school starts.
The Muskingum County Library System works all year with students especially kindergarten to keep them interested in education. Assistant Director Blair Tom said they’ve got learning station activities, story time, and interaction with others in their age range.
“A degree of structure as we get back to going back to school or going to school for the first time,” Tom said. “Being in a group setting, sitting, listening, participating, interacting appropriately, sharing our thoughts, and being respectful of others.
John McIntire Library is also going to host a back to Kindergarten celebration for all students attending Kindergarten this fall.
“We’re going to have a free book for people who stop by our table and a special student library card that we will sign all kindergarten students up for that are interested,” said Tom. “There will certainly be other wonderful opportunities and school supplies available free of charge for kindergarten students beginning their school career on August 5, 2017.
