ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A solar eclipse will occur across the United States on August 21st and the library is offering a crucial piece to enjoying the view.

While only a partial eclipse will occur in Ohio, it is never advised to look at the sun directly even with sunglasses but PR Assistant, Rob Cook, said Muskingum County Library System will be offering special glasses designed to observe the eclipse.

“We wanted to come up with something for the community for the kids and such to be able to experience that. So we have ordered these solar eclipse glasses for people to safely watch that partial solar eclipse that’s going to occur.”

Cook encourages families to visit one of the six branches of the Muskingum County Library System and get their glasses while learning about the eclipse.

“It goes with our mission of learning and discovering and getting kids interested

in science and astronomy. We will have book displays here talking about solar eclipses and astronomy that kids can pick up and its kind of a good way for families to get into learning about science and astronomy.”

Glasses will be available August 1st and are limited to one per person.
