Vista Golf Course tees off against Cancer

NASHPORT, Ohio- Golfers teed off at noon on July 28th for a cause greater than their score.
The Vista Golf Course hosted the inaugural Birdies for Life golf scramble. The event consisted of lunch and 18 holes of golf in team of 4. Event lead, Sara Shallcross, explained Birdies for Life came from the idea of providing another opportunity for people to support a great cause.
“We actually started this process about a year ago and we are able to finally put something together for 2017 and really the idea started where obviously we have the walk in October and that is breast cancer awareness month however we wanted to extend out a little bit because we know sometimes football gets in the way, family planning gets in the way things like that. So we wanted to give folks another opportunity to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and of course the American Cancer Society in general.”
Community Development Manager, Amanda Hickerson, says the event helps Making Strides Against Breast Cancer raise their year-end goal of nearly 60,000 dollars.
“All the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Here in Zanesville our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk that we have in October has a set goal of 58,000 dollars so we are trying to raise that money a little in advance.”
Before the walk in October, Making Strides next event will be a kickoff at the end of August.
