Joy E. Gay, age 90, of Columbus formerly of Zanesville died 3:30 PM,  Friday, July 28, 2017,  at Friendship Village in Columbus.
She was born Friday, September 24, 1926, in Blue Rock, the daughter of Marion Russell and Ellen (Offenbacher) Russell. She was married to Donald “Don” P.  Gay who preceded her in death on Saturday, April 11, 1987.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, was a loving mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the Field House Fitness Center three times a week.
Joy is survived by three sons, Jim (Christie) Gay of New Albany, Dan (Kathy) Gay of Cincinnati and Pat (Vicki) Gay of Zanesville; one daughter, Julie (Larry Phelps) Gay of Dublin;  eleven grandchildren, Brent, Lyndsi, Kelly, Matthew, Connor, Luke, Adam, Natalie, Alex, Maximus and Nicholas; nine great grandchildren, Nathan, Dylan, Allie, Austin, Kyla, Sydni, Aiden, and Ethan and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Tim Gay, two brothers and one sister.
Donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association,  P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Father Peter Fagen, O.P.  as celebrant.
