COSHOCTON COUNTY, Ohio – The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that human remains found in a field are nearly 1,000 years old.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a call on June 21, and the caller, who was arrowhead hunting, believed he had stumbled across human bones near a field in the area above Mohawk Dam.

Deputies and Dr. Gwinn, the County Coroner, responded to the scene, where they were confirmed to be human remains.

On June 22, remains were removed from the scene and sent to the Licking County Coroner’s Office for further investigation.

On July 31, the coroner said the remains are approximately 900-years-old, and are of only historical interest.
