Saturday Fatal Accident Investigated

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal accident that happened on State Route 376 in Blue Rock Township.

Troopers say on Saturday just after 8:00 p.m. a white Audi driven by a 16-year-old Skyler Gilkerson of Chandlersville was traveling southbound on SR 376.  The Patrol says at the same time a Ford Freestar driven by 47-year-old Stephen Hampton of Blue Rock was traveling northbound on SR 376.  Troopers say Gilkerson lost control of his vehicle and struck the Ford Forester.  Gilkerson died of his injuries at the scene.

The passengers of the Audi, both 15-year-old males and from Duncan Falls were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The passengers in Hampton’s vehicle,  44-year-old Bonne Hampton, 23-year-old Mark Derwacter, 26-year-old Brandon Brearley, 25-year-old Amanda Derwacter, all of Blue Rock, 24-year-old Matthew Wickmam of Louisville and four juveniles of Blue Rock were all transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
