ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Artists are coming together to share their art and have an evening of fun at the third annual ‘Foot By Foot’ event.

August 12, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. artists from ‘On the Winding Road A-Z’ initiative will join together, have their work judged, and their provided art sold. Founder David Mitzel explained Foot By Foot started when Appalachian Hills of Ohio Territory (A.H.O.O.T.) wanted to draw artists and viewers into the region.

“I thought well what if I gave gesso boards or canvases to artists from ‘On the Winding Road A-Z’ and they wouldn’t have to pay for them, but they would bring them in on a particular day,” Mitzel said. “The whole idea is to get to know people and make for a stronger arts community within the region.”

Mitzel gives away 100 12″ by 12″ gesso boards and canvases to artists for free and in return when the unsigned work is bought. Half of the proceeds will go towards the artist and the other half will be split again for the event’s costs as well as going towards future events for ‘On the Winding Road A-Z’

“Use to be that we’d try to limit artists to particular counties, now it’s Southeastern Ohio,” Mitzel said. “We’ll have artist’s from all parts from Southeastern Ohio. The A-Z thing can be Alpha to Omega, it could be the entire universe, not just Athens to Zanesville.”

Each piece will cost $100. The event will take place at David Mitzel’s townhouse located at 150 Muskingum Avenue.

Kennedy Museum Director Ed Pauley will judge the art work. Awards of $500, $250, and $100 will be given out as well as $150 to the Artists’ choice winner. For more information on the event email David Mitzel at mitzel@ahoot.org.
