Space Opposes Senate Healthcare Bill

Congressman Zack Space 18th (D) says he has a message for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: He will adamantly oppose any decision to bring the Senate healthcare bill to a vote in the House of Representatives.

Space sent a letter to Pelosi last week expressing his feelings on the matter. He says the healthcare bill is not good for Ohio and certainly not good for this district.

"It shifts the cost onto the middle class that can least afford it. I think it is a windfall for the insurance industry. I will not vote for it, and I will do everything I can to defeat it, " says Space.

Space says he thinks healthcare reform is needed, but right now, he says everyone needs to take a step back and work together to find some sort of consensus on the matter.

Once this is completed, he says the focus needs to shift back to a different issue, jobs, and he hopes that’s an issue President Barack Obama addresses in his State of the Union address tomorrow night.

"I want to hear that he intends to focus his undivided attention on this economy, " says Space.
