Meet Madelyn Tyo, the Carr Center’s new executive director

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Carr Center has been a part of Zanesville for 70 years with various names and leadership changes. Now the Carr Center welcomes a new executive director.

Madelyn Tyo is taking on the new position after years of working for the Carr Center in various capacities. She’s volunteered for the Safety Town program since she was in high school, served as a social work intern while attending Ohio University, and then as their social work coordinator after graduating from OU.

“I am very excited to step into this role. It is something new for me, something I’ve never done before, but I am excited for the opportunity,” Tyo said. “I am excited to network with the community and get the Carr Center’s name out there and share about what we do in our awesome mission.”

Tyo says her priority as executive director is to ensure the continuation of existing programs and find where the Carr Center has room to grow to further its mission. The Carr Center’s vision as a non-profit organization is to assist people in achieving their fullest educational and/or functional potential to achieve or maintain the highest quality of living.

“At the Carr Center, we serve adults and children. We have pediatric speech therapy and an adult daycare service. And we also have some other programs throughout the year like Safety Town and Kinder Camp that serve the youth,” Tyo said.
