Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Team Delivers Supplies for Flood Victims

ZANESVILLE, OH – A National Alliance of Churches has come together to aid those affected by the recent floods.

The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Team from Nashville sent up a 53 foot trailer full of relief supplies to the Norval Park Church of Christ here in Zanesville.

Joshua Potvin, the Minister of the Norval Park Church of Christ, says they received a call earlier this week asking if they needed supplies for the victims in Perry and Muskingum Counties.

He says within 24 hours of that call, the supplies were on the move and on the way to those who needed them the most.

“When you’re a Christian and you think about scripture, Hebrews 13, verse 16, it says, “Do not forget to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to the Lord.” Potvin said. “And so as Christians, not only is it a good cultural thing to give back to the community and things, but it’s also an imperative from the Lord to make the most of the things that we have for people that are having misfortunes, so we’re happy to do that.”

Water, cleaning supplies, blankets, clothing, and food were among some of the items that were donated.

Donnie Watts, an Elder of the Church, says this may be a small act but it will help to to get the victims of the floods back on their feet.

“We believe in loving like Jesus did.” Watts said. “We want to make sure that our community and that includes everybody, from Zanesville, Crooksville, Roseville, New Lex, Somerset, anyone around us, that if we can help them, we want to get out and help them and get them back to where they need to be! We don’t want to see anybody suffer, we know things like this happen, but if we can lend a helping hand, just show them some of Jesus’ love.”

The Norval Park Church of Christ is located 845 Arch Street here in Zanesville.
