Former Zanesville City Council President Dies

A longtime member of Zanesville City Council has died.  90-year-old Ted Zakany passed away Wednesday at Heath Nursing Care Center following a brief illness.  Zakany served on City Council for 30 years; holding positions of Ward Councilman, Council At Large and President of Council. Zakany along with his wife and brother were co-owners of Zakany’s Food Town Mart on State Street.  He was also a very active member of the Democratic Central Committee and Muskingum County Democratic Party.  Friends may call at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home Friday October 6th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Visitation will also be held from 10:00 to 12:00 pm Saturday October 7th at Northside Church of the Nazarene in Zanesville where the funeral will be held starting at noon.
