MVHC: Players of the Game – Week Three

MVHC

ZANESVILLE, OH – We are thirty percent of the way through the high school football regular season, and yet more and more faces are coming to the forefront with incredible performances. One doesn’t have to look to far to find our “MVHC: Players of the Game” from week three, thanks to our radio stations.

As the home of the Blue Devils, AM 1240 has seen Zanesville’s resurgence this season continued with a week three 32-14 win over rival Newark, a victory which the Blue Devils were searching for since 2022. Running back Quinzy Chason is a big part of that early success, as the sophomore finished with 134 yards and two touchdowns in the week three win.

For those who tuned into Highway 103 on Friday night, they will know that New Lexington remains unbeaten after a 29-14 win over a feisty John Glenn team. Senior receiver, returner, and free safety Tyson Spicer helped lead the Panthers to a third straight 3-0 start to the season with 150 yards receiving, a touchdown, while also having a big impact on the defensive side of the ball.

The Z92 crew didn’t have to travel too far for its week three game, one in which West Muskingum cruised to a 44-7 defeat of cross-town foe Maysville. A familiar name to Muskingum Valley League fans over the last few seasons, senior Carter Smith had a stand out performance on both sides of the ball in the Tornadoes’ win, highlighted by a pair of two touchdown receptions to lead the Tornadoes to their second win in their first three games.

Congratulations to all three athletes.
