Rubber hits the road in memory of Jerry “Jug” Hazen

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A Philo man’s legacy was honored in Zanesville today with a funeral procession of more than 100 vehicles.

Jerry Hazen, known by his friends as Jug, was the owner of a biker bar called Jug’z Tavern in Newark, Ohio. That’s why his funeral procession saw around 75 motorcycles take to the road along with around 45 cars. According to Brenton Baker, an associate with Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, it’s one of the largest funeral services they have held.

“It’s tremendous and every single person has talked about what an incredible friend he was, what a great family man he was, that he would do anything for you. I mean there’s nothing but love and support,” Baker said.

Jerry Hazen was laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park after the procession in a motorcycle hearse. He leaves behind his wife, Veronica “Ronnie” Hazen, along with his four children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
