A Muskingum County Family lost its home to fire. Wayne Township Fire Chief Don Alexander says it happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning at 3666 Chandlersville Road. Alexander says when his crew arrived on the scene the one story home was fully engulfed in flames. He says the fire started in the basement and quickly spread to the rest of the house. The home, which is owned by Quinten Ore, is considered a total loss. The Southeast Ohio Red Cross was called to the scene to help the family with housing. Also assisting were fire fighters from Harrison, Washington and Perry Townships, along with the South Zanesville Fire Department and Community Ambulance. The home’s smoke detector woke up the family who were able to escape. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
