Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Wendy!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week is a snuggle bug!
Meet Wendy! She’s a 4-year-old dachshund who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is ready for her second chance at a forever home.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Shelter, says Wendy came to them as an owner surrender and would do well in a home without children.
“It’s one of those situations where the owner had to go into an assisted living facility and none of the other family members could take her on.” Gibson said. “So, she’s missing her owner, it’s been really tough, they have to make a big adjustment just like their owners do. She’s coming in here with over 100 animals in the building.”
Gibson added that it may take some time for Wendy to warm up to new people but if you take her on a walk, she becomes a whole new pup with a fresh set of zoomies.
The Shelter is also getting ready for Pints and Pups on the Patio at Y-Bridge Brewing Company this Saturday, Sept. 12th, from 1 to 3PM.
Gibson says Schmidt’s Sausage Truck will be on hand with food available for purchase and everyone is invited to bring their leashed pups to enjoy a nice afternoon.
She also wanted to remind the community to get their ticket to the Inaugural Bark, Bourbon, and Leaf happening next Thursday.
“The Bailey’s do an amazing job for us and we still have tickets available here.” Gibson said. “Part of the Leaf is a cigar, so the $35 is the finger foods so to speak that’s available and then a cigar. Of course you have the adult spirits if you’ve ever been to the Taste of Ohio, it’s an amazing place, it’s local, support local, and you can also purchase that.”
If you are interested in adopting Wendy or grabbing tickets to Bark, Bourbon, and Leaf, you can reach out to the Animal Shelter Society.
