Capable Creations: A food truck run by MVESC’s students

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) is opening a food truck run by students in its disability services programs.

Students from the adult success program, ages 18 to 22, served their first customers in the parking lot of the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation on Thursday morning.

“We have everybody from the Straker Foundation. We have the county commissioners coming as well as some people from Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center,” said Kate Kimble, the director of student services with MVESC. “We’re very excited. It means a great deal to us and our students with disabilities, to show them that they are very capable of doing whatever they would like to do.”

Kimble says that the food truck as made possible through a grant from the Straker Foundation. Her favorite menu item is the loaded teas that offer energy and rehydration.

Andrew Carroll was one of the students working the food truck and says it’s great to work with his friends and loves using the blender to make smoothies for customers. Carroll tells us all about the menu at Capable Creations.

“This food truck is the best. It has smoothies, sandwiches, drinks, all that delicious stuff,” Carroll said.
