35 Businesses at local Job Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville – Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce and Ohio Means Jobs hosted a job fair on October 26, 2017.
The job fair was held at the Zanesville – Muskingum County Welcome Center from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Chamber President Dana Matz said veterans were able to enter first while everyone else waited until 2:30 P.M. to enter.
“The first half hour is for veterans first,” Matz said. “So if you served our country, then we give them first shot at talking to these businesses. There’s been a push to hire veterans so we’ve done this the last couple years and so it works out well. We actually have Veteran Services here with us today so they will also help the veterans.”
About 35 Muskingum County businesses who are looking to hire attended the job fair, while they expected between 200 – 300 people to attend the event. Upon entering every person had to go through an information screening.
“Down the road if these folks need then to have help with resumes and those types of things, they can come back and work with Ohio Means Jobs,” Matz said. “The neat thing is there are companies here today that will be doing on site interviews. So somebody could come in here today and have a job tomorrow.”
The Chamber of Commerce’s job fair happens annually, but Ohio Means Jobs will hold other job fairs and help anyone looking for employment throughout the year.
