Coshocton County Memorial Hospital to Face Layoffs

A hospital administrator says Coshocton County Memorial Hospital will be facing layoffs.

Greg Nowak says 21 layoffs are planned, which will take effect this Friday. He says benefits will be affected too, and 77 of the hospitals managers are taking a five percent paycut.

Nowak says bad debts, money for charity care, the Ohio franchise fee, and an increased long term care bed tax are to blame for the hospital’s money troubles. Bad debt totals more than six million dollars and money for charity care is around three million.
