Free Flu Shots
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – As summer wains into fall, conditions begin to flourish for the increased spread of influenza.
Rambo Memorial Health Center Executive Director Shannon Bell announced the arrival of their annual, free, flu vaccination shots.
“Cold and flu season is just around the corner and here at Rambo, our flu season has begun,” Bell said. “You can come in and receive your flu vaccine. We are here Monday through Friday from 8-to-4:30. Now in the month of October, we have some extended hours. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we’re here until 6 o’clock for those folks who work. And the first Saturday in October, we are here from 9-to-1.”
Bell mentioned that you can always visit their website or social media sites for any last minute updates. And that washing your hands and covering your cough are some of the biggest deterrents to spreading respiratory illnesses.
“This year’s flu vaccine is a tri-valent,” Bell said. “It’s been a tri-valent now for a couple of years. And we haven’t specifically heard anything about any pertinent strains that are happening right now. The kiddoes went back to school and there has been some stuff going around. Anytime you get everybody in close quarters again, things like that tend to happen. So there are some respiratory related illnesses going around.”
Bell noted that the shots provide a catalyst for your body to build an immunity against and usually take two weeks before they become fully effective. She also recommends getting vaccinated before travelling to help reduce the chances of bringing the flu back home. Rambo Memorial Health Center is located at 711 Main Street in Zanesville.
