Community can donate on C-Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Gather up your items you no longer want or need, it’s time to donate to the Salvation Army.
Zanesville Jaycees and WHIZ Radio Stations are holding their annual C-Day, previously known as Canister Day. AM1240, Z92, and Highway 103 will air the donations that people call in and a Jaycees member will pick up donations within a 10 mile radius of Zanesville Ohio.
“This all goes to The Salvation Army,” Zanesville Jaycees Secretary Taylor Russell said. “So we’re really just looking for canned goods, clothes, or toys to give back to the Salvation Army to help make someone else’s Christmas a lot better that probably wouldn’t be.”
Russell said this is a simple way for the community to provide for the Salvation Army. The only information that needs provided is the caller’s address and a list of items being donated.
“Normally you have to pack stuff up and it sits there for a while, sits in the corner of your house,” Russell said. “This is just as simple as calling in on Saturday [November 4, 2017] from 9:00 A.M. to noon, we’ll come pick it up. If you don’t even want to talk to us, you don’t have to. Just put it on the porch and we’ll pick it up for you.”
This tradition didn’t just start for Russell when he started working with the Zanesville Jaycees.
“Years ago one of mom and I’s favorite things every year was to collect what we don’t use anymore,” Russell said. “So we’d always love to call for C-Day. So this is one reason why I’m at Zanesville Jaycees now.”
C-Day is November 4, 2017, to donate call AM1240 at (740) 450-1240 or Z92 at (740) 450-0927 between 9:00 A.M. and noon.
