ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Authorities have provided new information about the two-vehicle fatal crash that closed part of I-70 westbound Friday afternoon.

Sergeant Jeffrey Jirles with the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said just before 5:00 p.m. a 2008 Jeep operated by 57-year-old Jenny Farley of Columbus was traveling eastbound when she lost control and drove across the median into the path of a tractor-trailer. The commercial truck, operated by 46-year-old Donnie Lovell of Roland, Oklahoma, struck the Jeep as it entered the westbound lane.

“It would appear we’ve had one vehicle cross the median. The vehicle was originally eastbound, crossed the median, and ended up in the westbound lanes of traffic. It was struck by a commercial car carrier,” said Jirles.

Farley, the driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two female passengers in the Jeep, 19-year-old Justina Farley and 18-year-old Meghan McDonald, also of Columbus, who were transported to Genesis Hospital with serious injuries. Their condition remains unknown.

Lovell, the semi-truck driver, was not injured.

The highway reopened at 9:00 p.m. The incident remains under investigation.
