ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Board of Elections met with the Muskingum County Commissioners about budgeting for their poll-worker training.

Director Tim Thompson requested that the Muskingum County Board of Elections use remaining funds from this past year to purchase new tables, chairs, and audio-visual equipment for the training area.

“Poll-worker training is very important for the poll-workers, especially with our new systems,” Thompson said. “So it’s important to have a place for them to come, learn, and be able to put into practice what they’re learning in poll-worker training.”

The Board of Elections hold multiple training sessions each year. Thompson explained that each poll-worker has to go through at least one three-hour training session before each election.

“So we go through poll-worker training on the poll books, issuing ballots on scanners, and other vital information for working the polls. So it takes a while and we typically train once each election.”

The Board of Elections is still looking for poll workers for the next election. It is a paid position for more information go to the Muskingum County Board of Elections website.
