Cruise in for a Cause with Transitions Inc. at Taste of Ohio
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The rubber hit the road at Taste of Ohio Wine Bourbon and Beer with the Cruise in for a Cause event on Saturday. The car show in downtown Zanesville featured raffles, a silent auction and entry fees that went to support Transitions Inc. The non-profit organization that serves Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties.
“So, Transitions is the domestic violence advocacy program here in Muskingum County. We have an emergency shelter and a court advocacy program,” said Katie Oberhauser, the executive director of Transitions Inc.
Transitions has a 21 bed shelter and operates a crisis hotline that has taken over 3,300 calls in 2023, according to their website. Jeeps, dune buggies, trucks, and muscle cars all rolled into Taste of Ohio to support their work and potentially win an award for their unique mode of transportation. Angela Bailey is one of the co-owners of Taste of Ohio and explains why it’s important to work with local non-profits on events like this.
“We recognize that we have such a fabulous building and a great location and we believe in the mission that they do in our city and all the good that they do for our community. So, it’s very important for us to partner with them and support them and give back in any capacity that we can,” Bailey said.
According to Transitions’ website, their court advocates helped 354 women and 93 men in obtaining protection orders, filing legal documents, and preparing for court appearances in 2023. According Oberhauser a new report came out that highlights the importance of their work.
“Ohio Domestic Violence Network recently put out their fatality report which includes a lot of great about the economic impact of domestic violence as well as the deaths from July of 2025 through June of this year,” Oberhauser said.
That report from the Ohio Domestic Violence Network says 134 victims of domestic violence were killed trying to escape their abusers in Ohio. If you would like to support Transitions Inc. or are in need of their services, you can visit their website at TransitionsZV.com.
