One Vehicle Accident Claims the Life of a Philo Man

ZANESVILLE – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal one-vehicle crash in Muskingum County.

The accident happened shortly before 11:00 am Tuesday on County Road 32 (Bridge St) near Front Street.

According to the Zanesville Post, a 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by 69-year-old William G. Aikey of Philo was southwest on County Road 32 when he traveled outside his lane striking a bridge wall and a guardrail .

Authorities said Aikey continued to travel off the south edge of the roadway striking a fence. Aikey was transported to Genesis Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Assisting on scene: Harrison Township Fire/EMS, Wayne Township Fire Department, Genesis Community EMS, Twin Peaks Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
