Free Cervical Cancer Screenings at MVHC

The Muskingum Valley Health Centers are offering a free health service to women. In honor of Cervical Health Awareness month, they will provide a free cervical cancer screening to any woman age 21to 65 at all their locations in Muskingum, Morgan, Coshocton and Guernsey counties until March 31st.
“Screenings can find abnormal cells before they turn into cancer if left untreated. We want everyone to have access to this life-saving procedure,” says Dr. Bijan Goodarzi, MVHC’s Chief Medical Officer.
Annually nearly 13,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and it is estimated that over 4,000 will die from the disease this year. However, the survival rate increases to 92% when invasive cervical cancer is detected in its early stages.
Appointments for the Pap test can be made by calling the Muskingum Valley Health Centers at 740-891-9000. Funding for the screenings is being provided by the Patient Care Charitable Fund.
