Dillon State Park hosts annual winter hike

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Although snow days can be bitter and ice cold, park rangers have found ways to get out and embrace the snowfall.

Saturday the Dillion State Park rangers set out to embark on their third annual winter hike.

“This is our third annual winter hike. As you can see it’s very wintery out here, great day for a winter hike. We actually have a couple of people out right now that took off at the 11:00 hike. I’ll be leading off the 1:00 hike and see what we run into,” said Naturalist, Andrew Tippel.

Despite the challenges of the road conditions, naturalist Andrew Tippel says winter is a beautiful time of year.

“Winter is a beautiful season even though it can be somewhat uncomfortable. When you’re out there on the trail, walking and talking, having a good time, it’s amazing how much body heat you create. If you layer up, and dress for the weather it should be no issues at all,” said Tippel.

The camp store served both coffee and hot chocolate to all of the hikers as well as other visitors to help them keep warm this Afternoon.
