Jesse L. Wright 1922 – 2018

Jesse Lawrence Wright, 95, of Columbus, formally of Zanesville, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on January 17, 2018. He was born February 7, 1922, in Zanesville, the son of Lee Roy and Hannah (Mead) Wright. He was happily married for over 50 years to Edda (Krakau) Wright.
Jesse entered the United States Army in September of 1943, at Ft. Hayes. He retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant on January 31, 1975, following over 30 years of service to his country. During his service during World War II, Jesse served in the China-Burma-India or CBI Theater of Operation. During his service during the Vietnam War he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Jesse was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
Jesse is survived by his devoted and loving family; his wife: Edda Wright; two sons: Lawrence (Janelle) Wright and Jorg (Paula) Kaltenegger; four daughters: Laverna (Lorenzo) Styles, Ramona (Gary) Neal, Jessie Wright and Sue Briggs; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his step-mother: Alta Wright; two brothers: William and wife Gloria Wright and Sergeant Major John L. Wright, United States Army, retired; and two sisters: Mary Ann Wright and Hanna Dillard.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, January 22. 2018. Jesse will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery with the United States Air Force, VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29 conducting full military honors.
