Muskingum River Ice Jam Update

Icejam

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency along with numerous other agencies continue to monitor the water level on the Muskingum River and the location of an Ice Jam, which is near Terrace Shores sub-division to just south of Dresden. Executive Director Jeff Jadwin says the water level has dropped 3 to 4 four feet as of Thursday. Jadwin says a new Ice Jam has developed north of Dresden and extends towards Coshocton County. That jam is also being monitored. Jadwin says in discussions with numerous local, state and federal partners, there is no intentions at this time to attempt to blow up the Ice Jam. There are current ice jams in Coshocton and Morgan Counties that are also causing concern. Jadwin says anyone who lives along the river needs to be conscious of fast rising water. This past weekend the water rose about 4 feet in 30 minutes. Jadwn says this could happen again if a different jam happens at a different location along the river. Jadwin says emergency information will be sent out through local media outlets and through the Everbridge Reverse 911 System. To sign up for Everbridge go to website…Citizensalert60.org.
