Saturday Muskingum River Ice Jam Update

Icejamsat

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency along with numerous other agencies were back inspecting the Muskingum River Ice Jams Saturday. E-M-A Director Jeff Jadwin says the water level appears to have dropped slightly in the area of the Ice Jam that affects the river from the area of the Terrace Shores Sub-Division to just south of Dresden. There is also an Ice Jam north of Dresden which extends toward Coshocton County. This is also being monitored. Jadwin says the river appears to have dropped slightly behind this jam. Numerous Local, State and Federal partners continue to monitor the situation. There are currently Ice Jams in Coshocton and Morgan Counties that are also causing concerns. Anyone who lives along the river needs to be conscious of fast rising water. This past weekend the water rose about 4 feet in less than 30 minutes. This could happen again if a different jam happens at a different location along the river or if the snow melt or rainfall is greater than expected. Please check the E-M-A Facebook page where information will be updated at least once a day if not more. Emergency information will be sent out through the Everbridge Reverse 911 System and through local media outlets.
