Chief Coury: Man Crushed at Mattingly Foods Loading Dock

Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury says a man was crushed to death at the Mattingly Foods Cold Storage facility Monday.  Police were called to 302 State Street around 11:30 am.  Chief Coury says 26-year-old Pritpal Singh was a driver for Suni Transport of Fresno, California.  Police say Singh, who was driving a semi tractor trailer, was being guided as he backed up toward the loading dock by a co-worker, 29-year-old Gurdep Singh of Fontana, California.  Chief Coury says somehow the co-worker was crushed against the loading dock by the semi and was killed.  The victim was the driver’s brother-in-law. The Muskingum County Coroner ordered an autopsy since it was a workplace accident. Chief Coury says no charges will be filed.
