Zanesville Community Theater receives $250,000 grant funding

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Community Theater will soon receive a $250,000 grant with the help of Senator Troy Balderson and the State of Ohio.
Funding from the grant will be used to further the arts in the City of Zanesville. Board of Directors President, Jillian Von Gunten said the theater is very lucky and excited to have received the grant.
“We were very lucky that we worked with senator Troy Balderson to have $250,000 granted to Zanesville Community Theatre to help us preserve arts in Muskingum County and were really excited about that. That money furthers our mission statement of providing education and theater based arts to our area. We’ll use that of the building and also to propel us into the future because this is our 55th season here at the Zanesville Community Theater,” said President Von Gunten.
With newly donated funding, the theater hopes to continue serving as a safe space for community members of all ages to feel at home.
“In the last few years we’ve really focused on providing kids and older folks an opportunity to explore this crazy thing that we do called theater and educate themselves and particularly when the world is as crazy as it is to have a safe space where you can come to work through whatever you’re working through,” said Von Gunten.
The Zanesville Community Theater is currently in search of actors and volunteers for their upcoming production “The Taming of the Shrew.” This production is set to hit the stage at the end of this month. For more information, contact the Zanesville Community Theater at (740) 455-6487.
