COLUMBUS, Ohio – Meadowbrook head coach Lou Tolzda said their DII state semi-final game with Trotwood-Madison would be a “David vs. Goliath” type of game. This time David forgot his slingshot.

The state ranked Rams were playing in the state final four for the second time in as many years. This was Meadowbrook’s first every trip to the state tournament.

The Colts hung with the Rams early. However, Trootwood-Madison hit a three-pointer on an inbound pass at the buzzer to end the first quarter and it was never really close after that. Trotwood built up a 49-30 lead and eventually got a running clock in the fourth quarter to win 88-42

“We played a good schedule but we didn’t play anybody the caliber of these guys. And the moment we watched them on film, we didn’t expose this to our guys, we just thought ‘wow,’ said Tolzda.

Trey Singleton was the only Colt in double-figures. He finished with 12 points. Amare Davis scored a game high 21 for Trotwood-Madison.

The Rams will move on to the state title game to play either Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary or Lexington on Saturday at 5:15 p.m.

Meadowbrook ends the season with an overall record of 22-6.
