Blue Jackets look to take commanding 3-0 series lead

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have made their way back home from the nation’s capital coming off back-to-back overtime wins over the Washington Capitals, with a chance to take a 3-0 series lead on Tuesday night.

The Blue Jackets found themselves in 2-0 holes in each of the first two games, but stormed back in each to stun the hometown fans, and put themselves in position to potentially end the series in the Arch City.

If Columbus is to continue their winning ways, they’ll have to improve upon their time spent in the penalty box. The Jackets have racked up 37 penalties minutes, leading to five Washington goals in 12 power-play opportunities.

But goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who had been criticized for his first two playoff performances, has been stellar for Columbus so far in these playoffs. “Goalie Bob” saved 54 Washington shots on Sunday night, and at points looked unbeatable, en route to helping his club survive repeated short-handed minutes.

For the first time in franchise history the Blue Jackets return to Columbus with a series lead, and hope to feed off the fans at a packed Nationwide Arena and put the Capitals on the brink of another early playoff exit.

The puck drops in Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Game 4 will also be held at Nationwide Arena on Thursday night.
