ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Valley League commissioner Scott Welker has announced that the MVL will be expanding from nine to 12 teams starting during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Coshocton, Meadowbrook, and River View have all voted and agreed to leave the East Central Ohio League and join the MVL.

“We formed an expansion committee in 2010 to start looking at options for expanding the league. The committee was very patient regarding their decision making. We covered many ideas over the past eight years to get to this announcement. The league is very strong and our administrators care about each member school,” said Welker via a press release.

The MVL was founded in 1938 as a seven school league. Since then it expanded five times.

This will leave the ECOL with just five members in Zanesville, Dover, New Philadelphia, Cambridge, and Marietta.
