Muskies remain atop MVL with 2-1 win over Generals

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — For the second straight day the Generals had a big road MVL match-up, and for the second straight day they came up on the short end by a 2-1 scoreline. Sheridan dropped their meeting with Tri-Valley on Thursday evening, before falling to John Glenn as well on Friday.

Sheridan took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning when Drew Campbell singled to left field scoring Levi Masterson.

The Little Muskies had a chance to tie the game up in the home half of the inning, with a runner at third and two outs, when Brady Emerson looked to beat out a ground ball at first; but Emerson was called out– much to the dismay of John Glenn manager Brad Barclay.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 6th when Emerson singled to right field scoring J.D. Brown, tying the game 1-1. Score Perkins would follow that base-hit up with a grounder to second that Campbell could not field cleanly for the Generals. Emerson raced around to score all the way from second to give John Glenn the 2-1 lead.

Sheridan threatened in the top of the 7th, putting runners at first and second with two outs, but Carter Szalay was able to get Reece Trowbridge to fly out to Emerson in center field to end the game, preserving John Glenn’s 2-1 victory.
