Alpha (Adkins) Childers, 95, of Huntington, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord on Mon. June 25, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 15, 1923 in Branchland, WV, the daughter of the late Elijah and Minnie (Tooley) Adkins. She was a member of Bloomingdale-Salem Baptist Church in, but had attended Uniontown Baptist Church for the last several years while living with her daughter Rowena Diamond. She was a 56 year breast and colon cancer survivor. She loved going to church and working jigsaw and word search puzzles. She retired from Owens-Illinois in Huntington after 30 years of service as a packer.
She is survived by one son Darrell (Diana) Childers of Harrisburg, NC. One daughter Rowena (Pastor Larry) Diamond of Fultonham. Four grandsons and 14 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly, four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Childers, one son Brett Childers, three brothers and six sisters. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Fri.
