Gary N. Shinn, 1954 – 2018

Gary N. Shinn, 64 of Zanesville, died, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Genesis Hospital CCU following a brief illness. He was born Tuesday, January 19, 1954 in Cambridge, the son of Wendell Shinn and Donna Lee (Brown) Shinn.

Gary was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #18 and was employed with All Crane and retiring from IGEL Construction with over 30 years service. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and a good beer.

Gary is survived by four daughters: Carey (Jamie) Clark of Reynoldsburg, Amanda Norman of Zanesville, Kelley (Jerron Funk) Penny of Dresden and Ashley (Matt) Imlay of Zanesville; his longtime companion: Joy Geyer of Zanesville; six grandchildren: John Mirgon, III, Owen Norman, Hanna Penny, Madison Imlay, Dawson Imlay and Khloe Funk; a special grand dog: Riley; the mother of his children: Cathy Knell of Zanesville; six sisters: Janet (Rick) Parkinson of Bolivar, Ruth (Frank) Moore, Trudy Shinn & Judy Shinn, and Shirley “Doobs” Shinn all of Zanesville, and Cheryl Johnson of Tampa, FL and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by one brother: Terry Brown.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 29, 2018, with Rev Mark Douglas officiating.
