Chrisman Competes in Miss America Pageant

A Cambridge native falls in her attempt at becoming Miss America.

Matti-Lynn Chrisman competed in the competition Sunday night, but couldn’t crack the Top 15.

She competed on a platform of anti-bullying and suicide prevention. Before taking the stage in Sunday’s competition she posted to her Facebook page about her own struggles with depression, urging those struggling to seek help if they are in crisis.

Chrisman is a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Musical Theater and is currently pursing a degree in Public Communication.

The title of Miss America 2019 went to Miss New York Nia Franklin. She was crowned from among four other finalists: Miss Louisiana, Miss Massachusetts, Miss Florida and Miss Connecticut.
