ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Kiwanis Club is gearing up for their annual peanut fundraiser.

Each year members of the Kiwanis Club, along with students from high school Key Clubs, hand out packets of peanuts in exchange for donations to the Kiwanis Club. President Sarah Linn said it is their one big fundraiser of the year and that it’s their chance to raise money for the programs they support.

“This is our one chance to we get to raise money for our programs,” said Linn. “So this is the one time a year that we can help our Key Clubs, help the children, help the Carr Center, help the programs that we sponsor.”

Linn said they have set their fundraising goals high this year but that all the members and teams are excited about hitting their mark. She said they hope to raise more than they every have before.

“In previous years we’ve raised probably between 14 and $15,000, so the $16,000 goal is pretty high but I thing we have a great membership, we’re all very excited for this year,” said Linn. “It’s my last big thing as president so I’m really eager to raise money this year.”

Linn said this week Kiwanis Club members will be reaching out to local businesses for donations and support and that on October 5th and 6th they will be in front of Walmart north and south giving away packs of peanuts.
