Upcoming dates for the November election

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s National Voter Registration Day and the Board of Elections has some upcoming dates they want to remind you of.

Director, Timothy Thompson, said if you have changed your name or address, you will need to complete a new voter registration form and submit it to the Board of Elections office by 9 p.m. on October 9th.

“Vote registration is important,” said Thompson. “If you don’t register to vote, you can’t vote. Voting is quite a privilege we have in our country.”

Thompson said the Secretary of State has mailed an absentee ballot application to all registered voters. Applications can also be found on the website, but they must be mailed or delivered to the office.

“With elections the way they’ve been in the past few years, it’s important for everybody to get their chance to vote. So, just be aware of the issues, candidates and make the right choices,” Thompson explained.

Thompson said early voting begins on October 10th. They will begin mailing ballots that same day. He said the ballot envelopes are new this year – they are smaller with a blue “Official Election Mail” logo on the front and labelled “Official Absentee Balloting Material – First Class Mail.”
