Ohio Makes: Day 2

Ohio Makes

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The first Ohio Makes festival wrapped up Sunday.

The festival gave the chance for crafters and hobbyists from around the area to sell their products, but also served to raise awareness about the IDEA Lab at Zane State College. People were able to learn about and tour the IDEA Lab while enjoying food trucks, kids crafts, and shopping local. The Associate Dean of Workforce Development Tracey Porter said they really just wanted to get the word out about the lab.

“I was inspired to do that just because of the lack of awareness of the lab being here on the college campus,” said Porter. “So it was just to create awareness about all the makers we have here in Ohio and all the great things that everyone’s doing.”

Porter said despite having to dodge a few raindrops yesterday afternoon, the weekend was an overall success. She said they are already making plans to hold the Ohio Makes festival again next year.

“Yeah. We’ve taken a lot of suggestions from the community and from the vendors on improvements that we can make and we’re already making plans for next year,” said Porter.

Porter said they really just wanted to raise awareness about the IDEA lab and local resources available to crafters and hobbyists, and they were able to accomplish that this weekend.
