NAACP 50th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County NAACP is hosting their 50th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.
The event will take on Saturday, November 3rd at Bryan’s Place and you will need to purchase a ticket to attend. Kenneth Burke, President of the Muskingum County NAACP, said they are looking to have a good turnout again this year.
“Our guest speaker this year is going to be Edward Gilbert. Ed graduated from Zanesville and went on to become a lawyer, big lawyer in the Akron-Canton area up in there and a well-known lawyer and has written books and he’s coming back to be out guest speaker,” Burke said.
They choose a guest speaker every year who has grown up in Zanesville and has gone on to become successful. They also hand out the Foot Soldier in the Sand award every year and this years recipient is Sheriff Matt Lutz.
“It has really been an experience. I have been the president for 18 years now here in Zanesville, which I grew up here. To see the community come together, it’s really quite exciting,” Burke said.
