***UPDATE*** Zanesville Teen Killed in Accident

A 17-year-old Zanesville resident has died following an accident.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol said Garrett Howard was driving north on State Route 93, about a mile north of I-70, in a Kia Rio around 10:40 Tuesday night, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck a culvert, overturned and ejected the driver.

Howard was transported to Genesis Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The patrol said the Howard, who was a students at the Mid-East Career Center, was not wearing a safety belt and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

There were no other occupants in the car at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
