4th Annual ‘Slice of Zanesville’

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A ‘Slice of Zanesville’ is taking place for its fourth year Tuesday, October 16th and WHIZ Meteorologist Phil Sakal is the organizer behind it.
The fundraiser is to help raise money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. It is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Saint Thomas Activity Center. This is very near and dear to Sakal as he was personally affected by Colitis Disease.
“Well I was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease when I was born, meaning my colon was not alive in a part of it and that kind of led into the Colitis diagnosis, as well as the lactose intolerant, irritable bowel syndrome, had a lot of problems growing up but surgeries have fixed all that thankfully and a lot of the research with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation continues to bring more at least light at the end of the tunnel for people suffering with Crohn’s and Colitis,” Sakal said.
The money will go towards research and development and Sakal said hopefully eradicating Crohn’s and Colitis. Zanesville local, Matt Frampton will be playing some music for entertainment and there will be raffle prizes as well.
“It’s a great event and I think a lot of the folks are just very happy to donate and also just a great crowd of folks that are with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation so that kind of helps bring a little bit more people out and I’ve noticed a lot more people in the area asking me “Hey, is that fundraiser coming up again in the fall?” Which really makes me feel good,” Sakal said.
You can go to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation website to buy tickets or purchase them at the door. It is $10 for one ticket or $30 for a four pack and those who attend will get up to four slices of pizza and even some desert.
