Bodies Found in Muskingum River/Updated
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz is releasing more details in connection with the missing Licking County men found dead. Ben Davis and Ryan Hickey, both 29-year-old were found in their car in the Muskingum River at around 11:30 pm. Sheriff Lutz says yesterday around 4:30 in the afternoon a passerby saw what he thought was a tire floating in the river by the 6th Street Bridge by Harper’s Auto Body. But Lutz says it wasn’t until he was watching the Whiz News at 11:00 and saw the story about the missing men that he called the Sheriff’s Office. Lutz says after investigation deputies discovered that the car had hit an embankment by the bridge and rolled into the river. Authorities called for the Zanesville Fire Department Rescue boat and pulled a vehicle from the river that had two bodies inside. Lutz says he is considering three possible reasons for the fatal car accident…either the men had been drinking alcohol, or it was driver fatigue or some type of medical issue. Muskingum County Coroner Dr. Perry Kalis has ordered an autopsy. The two men were last seen at the Foxhole Strip Club on the Maysville Pike last Tuesday.
