Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Newark
A Newark man is dead following a motorcycle crash Saturday.
Newark Police say the crash on State Route 79 south and State Route 16 overpass occurred before 3pm.
They say 38-year-old Joseph Bennington was trying to merge onto State Route 79 from State Route 16 west, when he lost control.
Bennington was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger 42-year-old Jodi Wiles, of Fredricktown, was transported by medical helicopter to the Ohio State University Medical Center, where she’s in fair condition.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Licking County Coroner’s Office.
Neither Bennington or Wiles were wearing helmets.
