Cambridge Amateur Radio Association Throws Hamfest and Computer Show

Electronics enthusiasts gathered in Cambridge today.

The Cambridge Amateur Radio Association put on a hamfest and computer show at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center this morning. Vendors sold everything from radio parts to computer software and even laptop computers. For anyone looking for a great bargain, it was the place to be.

“Oh yes! These laptops are probably selling for a third of what you could buy new. Now they are not new they are usually 1 to 3 years old, but they are in great shape they are great buys. With laptops you could walk out of here for one for $100,” says Sonny Alfman the president of the Amateur Radio Association.

The hamfest also offered amateur radio license testing for anyone who wants to broadcast over the airwaves. For parents with kids who need a computer or software for school, there were plenty of deals to be had.

“Yes normally you get very good deals at these events in fact sometimes you get fantastic deals because some people don’t want to take them back,” says Alfman.

The Cambridge Amateur Radio Association says they will have another hamfest and computer show next year.
